Custom Error Pages
Learn what a Custom Error Page is, what role does it have and the way to make one.
If you have checked out lots of sites, you've probably come across some error message from time to time. An error may occur when the website hosting server cannot process a request (Error 400), if you have to log in to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you aren't allowed to access a page (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file which isn't on the website hosting server (Error 404). Receiving this sort of messages could sometimes be aggravating as the pages have absolutely nothing in common with the actual site. That’s why some hosting service providers permit you to set your own error pages that will match the layout of your own site and that can have any content that you want - info why the error has taken place, a suggestion how to proceed or even some amusing comment. Such a function will help you keep the visitor on the website no matter the error or the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Web Hosting
You will be able to set up personalized error pages for all of your domains or subdomains. The feature is supported by all cloud web hosting solutions that we provide, so once you log in to your Hepsia CP and check out the Hosted Domains section, you can click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up which will be displayed, you can select the type of error page which should show up - a default one from our system, a conventional Apache web server page or a customized one. For the last mentioned alternative, you need to assign the URL to the page, so when you use customized pages, you must upload the files in your hosting account first. Another way is to use an .htaccess file located in the domain or subdomain folder with a line for each error type. The correct syntax can be found in our Knowledge Base, so that you can use this feature even if you don't have any previous experience.
